Bangladesh Correspondent: Three Rohingya unregistered refugee children seriously injured by wild elephant assault when they went to forest to collect fire wood at western side of Leda makeshift camp on 26th of Jan, 2016 at around 10. am.
The victims were identified as Abbas Miah 14 s/o Mohamed Hussain block-E, Room# 81, Md Noor 13 s/o Nur Mohamed block-B, Room#191 and Hussain Ahamed 12 s/o Kabir Ahamed block-B, Room#83 of Leda Makeshift camp, according to Chairman, Dr Dudu Miah.
Master Abdul Matalob said, the three children along with some other refugee men went to forest to collect fire wood where they suddenly faced with wild elephant on the way. They were caught and treaded over and thrown to and fro caused them serious injury.
Later, they were brought to the camp and hospitalized at IMO administered hospital. But Abbas Miah was refered to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment in critical state.
Their only income source is to collect fire wood and sell them for money to support their families, said a reliable source.
