Mrauk Uu Correspondent: Police has arrested 31 Rohingya poor daily laborers for digging out underground rocks from a mountain near Mrauk Uu Township on 5th of March 2016.
The arrestees are known as Ali Hussain s/o Sayed Husaain, Sikander s/o Zafor, Monir Ahamed s/o Zafor, Salim Ullah s/o Fori Ahamed, Abdu Rahman s/o Abdu Zabbar, Siraju s/o Do, Iman Husaain s/o Pemaung, Dila Hussain s/o Ali Ahamed, Md Shobi s/o Abdu Moji, Bulaya s/o Jalal Ahamed, Robi Sha s/o Isak Ahamed, Nurul Amin s/o Shobbir, Robi Alam s/o Omor, Md Ullah s/o Abdu Bari, Nabi Hussain s/o Md Ali, Sayed Karim s/o Abdu Malek, Fokir Alam s/o Nasi Ahamed, Md Naras s/o Abdu goni, Fukka Alam s/o Abdu Rashid, Md Naser s/o Abdu Rashid, Md Nosir s/o Ayu Ali, Kala San s/o Abdu Malek, Kala Suna s/o Isak Ahmed, Robi Sha s/o Do, Hla Win s/o Oli, Sultan Ahamed s/o Tazur Ahamed, Dola Ya s/o Rashid Ahmed and Fazal Ahamed s/o Do of Paung Dout village of Maruk Uu.
According to source, the arrested 31 Rohingya were engaged as daily laborers by clerk, Maung Maung Tun of Paung Dout village, Mr Win Mint of Cantonment no. 378 and another one unidentified from middle bazaar area taking the responsibility or liability of any risk from government side for digging rocks from a mountain at a distance of more than one mile from the village.
When the daily laborers were digging the stones from the mountain, some concerned persons from land department came there and called in the police informing over mobile phone alleging that the stone digging was violation of country’s law and the poor laborers were arrested to the police camp.
But the aforesaid three person took the liability fled the scene leaving the poor laborers. They are not doing anything for their release from the police. However, three laborers were released after sometimes of arrest. No further details are available.
