A 8 year boy was arrested and tortured in custody by the BGP last week.
Last Wednesday, Rahim Ullah from Balu Hali, Maungdaw North was grazing his cattle near a BGP camp when the security men took him prisoner. Another shepherd witnessed the incident and rushed to the village with the information.
The boy’s mother Mubarak Hasina became hysterical on hearing the information and rushed in alone into the BGP camp. The BGP men mercilessly assaulted the woman and ejected her.
Later other villagers negotiated the release of the boy with a payment of half a million kyats.
Both the boy and his mother have multiple signs of beatings.
BGP allege the boy let his cows loose into the camp.
