A woman has allegedly been murdered by hospital staff in Maungdaw town.
20 year Noor Haba started experiencing labour pains on Thursday morning. As her condition deteriorated, she was taken to a hospital in Hashurata. Here staff said she should be taken to the Maungdaw government hospital.
Noor was taken to the government hospital at around 3pm in the afternoon. Two hours later, doctors asked her relatives to leave the room. A few minutes later, they heard a painful cry. After that nurses informed them she had passed away.
Later before the funeral, her family members noticed stab marks in her private parts that appeared unlikely to be a surgical procedure.
Many Rohingyas have previously been killed by hospital staff in government owned hospitals.
The victim’s father Syed Alam said, “we did not think before going to the government hospital. I should have thought about it and avoided it.”
