Another infant has died in Leda refugee camp where Bangladesh government has shut down all releif activities including water and healthcare facilities.
Nine month Noor Ayaz s/o Imam Hossain died at around 3 am on Friday night.
Deaths of infants have been occuring daily in the refugee camp as Bangladesh government shut down humanitarian operations in the overcrowded camp depriving them of water and healthcare.
To make matters worse, local villagers have refused to share water with the refugees, leaving the refugees to dig out dirty water from the ground.
Refugees meanwhile lined up in front of the Muslim Aid office with their children after rumours that some doctors have arrived to provide treatment. However there was no one.
Refugees have asked their representatives to negotiate with the government to allow another NGO besides Muslim Aid to operate in the camp. The government of Bangladesh alleges the Muslim Aid has ties to Jamaat-e-Islami a party that opposed the creation of Bangladesh.
Meantime infants continue to die everyday from water related diseases such as dierroheao.
