Kyauk Taw Correspondent: A Rohingya woman laborer was knocked down to serious injury by motorbike rode by three army personnel while coming from her work site on 20 March 2016 at about 7.00 pm.
The victim was identified as Shofika Begum 32, mother of 4 children, Down Paithi village of Paithi union, Kyauk Taw Township.
Source said, Shofika Begum went to her work site at brick field where she earned her livelihood working there as daily laborer. While she was walking along the road side back to her house after working, three army personnel riding on two motorbikes knocked violently and ran over the woman in full speed causing her critical injury where one of her leg bone broken.
The military personnel in uniforms were from Cantonment (Kha Ma Ya-539) in Kyauk Taw Township and one of the bikes from two was bearing (39-Ya/77156) and the other had no number plate.
Shofika Begum got serious injury on her right shoulder and her left leg bone has broken as well. Although the elites of the village informed the medical concerned persons through police at 7:20 pm, the ambulance was sent at 11:45 pm which carried the victim to Sittwe General Hospital in critical state, said a resident of Kyauk Taw.
