BGB intensify border presence

As the sound of gunshots reverberated across the border, Bangladesh Border Guards shut down the border and increased their patrols in fear of a Rohingya Muslim exodus.
There were also fears of an attack by the BGP which killed one Bangladeshi soldier last year when the country cracked down on drugs coming from across the border.
In the moments following the sudden security force crackdown in Godusera BGB was in an alert situation to prevent Rohingyas crossing over. The Bangladesh security forces feared a sudden deterioration in the overall Arakan situation leading to another riot.
Meanwhile Bangladeshi villagers who fish in Burmese waters on temporary visas could also be seen making back for Bangladesh in a hurry.
