A delegation of Kutupalong refugees met up with Nayapara refugees on Tuesday.
During the meeting that took place from 11 am to 1 pm, they discussed the refusal of the camp authorities to identify refugees as Rohingyas in the ration books.
Although the term ‘Rohingya’ is taboo in Burma, there are confusions why Bangladesh authorities are also refusing to acknowledge the name. By refusing to acknowledge the term Rohingya, Bangladesh is towing Burma’s line and inviting refugees it says it does not want.
But many pointed out that Bangladesh has a corrupt administration, which often sacrifices national interests when personal profit is to be made.
