Bangladesh police has shut down the bank account of an Arakan Army leader Renin Su and his close relatives. The information was given by Bangladesh police to local media.
The Arakan Army leader from the Rangamati area is currently absconding.
Bangladesh launched an offensive against the Rakhine insurgent outfit after they injured a paramilitary soldier near the Burmese border.
Arakan Army fighters reportedly crossed into Bangladesh after clashes with Burmese forces in April and May. The remote terrain on the Bangladesh side has made it difficult for the country’s forces to intercept them. In recent days however following the skirmish in the border, Bangladesh has adopted tougher measures.
Many Rakhine people on the Bangladesh side has sympathies with the insurgent outfit.
