A Bangladeshi couple has been arrested for helping a Rohingya family find jobs in Chittagong.
Border Guard Bangladesh made this arrest from a checkpoint at Habirchora in Teknaf on Wednesday.
The couple has been identified as Md Shafi Ullah and Azeda Akhter. They were arrested from a jeep in the area along with three Rohingya refugees.
The refugees are Md Sadek Hossain, Ramzan Ali and their sister Shahana Bibi. They were being taken to Chittagong for jobs in the garment industry.
The arrested people have been handed over to police.
Meanwhile locals say that any Bangladeshi citizen helping out refugees is arrested by law enforcement authorities. The situation is so bad that local Bangladeshis don’t come forward to help refugees who are being robbed in broad daylight.
