Bangladesh Border Guards arrested 14 Rohingya refugees from a microbus at the Palonkhali station on Monday, according to our correspondent.
The arrested Rohingya refugees were handed over to Ukhia police station.
Law enforcement officials in the area are reportedly frustrated at the large number of refugees crossing over into Bangladesh in spite of strict border controls, it was learnt. They also said it was necessary to identify local people who seemed to be aiding refugees crossing over.
In a separate incident, our correspondent says that 16 Rohingyas were intercepted at Gundum as they tried to cross into Bangladesh territory on Tuesday at around 4.30 pm. They were pushed back at around 5.30pm.
