A Rohingya woman has been arrested by Bangladesh police as a counterfeit ring convinced her to apply for a Bangladesh passport with false documents.
Khodeza Begum was arrested at the Cox’s Bazar passport office on Tuesday as she went to apply for Bangladesh passport, according to our correspondent.
It is known as three criminals – – Abdul Rahim, Monju and Maulavi Abdul convinced Khodeza and her husband Sultan Ahmed to apply for a Bangladesh passport. The desperate couple looking for a way to leave the mess behind succumbed to the ill advice and agreed to pay 35,000 Bangladesh Taka (more than 450,000 kyats) to the counterfeit operators.
The criminals took the money and did not supply the proper documents. As a result Khodeza was arrested by police when passport officials raised the alarm. Her husband was arrested later.
