Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A flag meeting was held between Border Guard of Bangladesh and Border Guard Police of Burma in Teknaf on 21 March 2016 at around 11:00 pm.
Lt. Colonel Mohamed Abuzar Al Zahid of BGB, Battalion no. 02 of Teknaf along with his Captain Major Abu Rasel Siddiqi warmly received the BGP team of Burma led by Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel, Saw Tin Zaw of Sector no. 01 of Maung Daw from Immigration jetty adjacent to Land Port of Teknaf at 10:00 am.
According to source, the significant flag meeting was held between the Border Guard of Bangladesh and Border Guard Police of Burma at Malaunch Rest House adjacent to Land Port of Teknaf where the decision regarding the bilateral joint patrol along the border river route and other essential issues was taken.
At the meeting, 8 BGB personnel led by Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abuzar Al Zahid of Battalion no. 02 from Bangladesh side and 9 BGP personnel led by Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel Saw Tin Zaw of BGP Sector no.01 from Burma side participated the meeting.
Lt. Colonel Mohamed Abuzar Al Zahid said, during the hour long meeting, it was discussed and the two-sided decision regarding the prevention of Yaba tablet, resisting human trafficking and illegal entry and, to continue joint patrol along the border river route including other important issues for the interests of the both countries was passed.
The next meeting will be arranged in Maung Daw Township of Rakhine state, Burma as usual. resist
