BGP assaulted Rohingya guards at Hashurata, Maungdaw South on Saturday.
The BGP personal went to arrest a man Bodi Rahman, s/o Abul Shawa at around 9.30 pm on terror charges. However Bodi had already fled the village in anticipation of the raid.
This enraged the BGP men who took their fury on local Rohingya guards who were supposed to guard the village. The guards were told that they should not be sleeping in their line of work and proceeded to take kerosene and other household products from them.
The assaulted guards have been identified as Md Ayub, s/o Md Yunus, Md Iman s/o Md Noman, Md Abdullah s/o Matiur Rahman and Syedul Amin s/o Abul Baher.
After that the BGP stopped a man who had gone out of his house for a night walk. Md Nagu, s/o Abdur Rahman was then assaulted by BGP who also forced him to pay 10.000 kyats. The BGP accused Nagu that since he was walking around in night time, he must be a terrorist.
