BGP have desecrated a Muslim graveyard and knocked down newly erected walls in Zammoinna, Maungdaw North, according to our local correspondent.
On March 25, BGP personal launched an operation to knock down the walls in the area’s Fulkhali neighbourhood saying that they were constructed without their permission. They also spit on the graves and walked over them.
Locals say that they took permission from a local tabbe Jokoria and paid him 400,000 kyats. Jokoria assured them that BGP had no problems with the construction.
A religious scholar in charge of this construction told Burma Times, “if they did not want the walls they could have just said it and we would not have done it. But they took the money and then did this disrespect.”
