A man has been tortured by being roasted in boiling water by security forces in Taimbru Sammonkhali of Maungdaw North.
Noor Alam s/o Hashem was found in the possession of 30,000 Bangladesh Taka (410,000 kyats approximately) during a raid on his home by BGP on Thursday afternoon.
BGP then took him to their camp, tied him up and submerged him in a container of boiling water.
He was later released on Sunday after a payment of 1 million kyats. BGP also kept the Bangladesh currency from him.
In recent days, government collaborators along with BGP have launched a security crackdown in the area. As Taimbru is one of the major gateways into Bangladesh, many people have been stuck on both sides of the border due to the security measures.
