A Rohingya man has been shot by BGP in Kunir Khali, Maungdaw North, according to our local correspondent.
At around 2pm on Friday, Syedul Amin (35), s/o Abul Khair was returning with his business associate from Balu Khali with a shipment of logs that they intended to sell in the Maungdaw Bazar. As their boat was passing through Kunir Khali, BGP men who were in position on the river bank fired in their direction hitting Amin in the waist.
The wounded man along with others were then taken off the boat. BGP admitted Amin at a local medical centre in the area.
BGP told locals they shot at Amin as they were openly carrying swords in the boat which they had gotten from terrorists on the Bangladesh side of the border. Locals say the material identified as swords by the BGP were wooden logs.
