Residents of the IDP camp in Cilkhali are blockaded and confined within the boundaries despite most of the shelters being destroyed last week from cyclone and flood.
The government has denied permission for the camps to be rebuilt and the IDPs are not allowed to collect wood for the required repair work.
As a result of the blockade, there are chronic food shortages in the camp. Many Rohingyas, especially the children are suffering from diseases but don’t have access to medicines or treatment.
A blockade was enforced by the military from late July on allegations the Rohingyas were sheltering foreign fighters aligned to terror group IS. Previously, army personal sexually abused women in the camp on the pretension of searching for IS fighters.
Independent analysts say IS has no presence in the region.
