A boy has been assaulted and kept hostage by Natala men near Firing Dong, Rathedaung.
On Friday at around 3.15 pm, 13 year Abul Hashim was grazing his cows when a group of Natala men suddenly fell upon him. They proceeded to severely beat him and then tied him up. They then sent message to Firing Dong that the boy was intentionally leading his cow to graze on lands owned by the Buddhists and destroying their fences.
Later community leaders negotiated the release of the boy after a payment of 150,000 kyats. He returned to his family at around 8pm in a critical condition.
Attacks by Natala men in the area have kept increasing in the past few days.
