One of the founders of Burma Times, Mohammad Ibrahim expressed his desire to build up a forum for journalists interested in the Rohingya crisis.
He expressed hope that in the coming days, there will be an increased number of journalists from the Rohingya community. “There are more than three million Rohingyas, but not one professional journalist,” said Ibrahim. He said Burma Times is one of the pioneering news organisations amongst the Rohingya community and is help training journalists from the Rohingya community.
His announcement came following the DW Global Media Forum in Bonn, which saw the participation of journalists from around the globe.
He also hoped for help from Burmese journalists concerned at human rights violations committed by government forces and ultra nationalist forces.
At the forum, a training director of Burma’s Journalism Institute, Sein Win, expressed strong support for the Myanmar Journalist saying people Myanmar are hate for each other no reason at all. “This is not realistic. You just ask them why you don’t like them. They don’t have any reply,” said Win referring to people who hate each other.
Ibrahim also thanked Bangladesh journalist Nur Islam Hasib from Bdnews24 for covering rughts abuses against the Rohingy poplace and expressed hoped they will participate in a forum for international journalists interested in the Rohingya cause. also he thanks to DW Deutsche Welle.
