Food shortages and diseases in IDP camps
Residents of Akyab IDP camps say that they are suffering from cold related diseases and food shortages. In light of the situation, they request Rohingya humanitarian organisations to find a way to increase relief supplies to IDP camps.
Rohingya Muslims are not allowed in the medical centres of Arakan. Many Muslims who have gone to avail medical treatment at Arakan medical centres have been assaulted, and some, including pregnant woman have been killed.
The food rations in IDP camps are also very low. The Rohingya Muslims are also not allowed to leave their camps thus depriving them of work.
International aid agencies and the media have described IDP camps as open air prisons. Raw sewage flows through the camps, and clean water is not available.
Meanwhile food supplies are often stacked outside the camps as anti-Muslim groups prevent them from entering.
