Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Students of grade 6, 7 and 8 have been boycotting attending school due to deprivation of their rights and mismanagement of Save the Children International and implementing partner Village Education Resource Center from 28th of Jan, 2016, according to parents of children.
The informal Junior High School approved by Government of Bangladesh was introduced in 2014 with 2 teachers only where there are about 152 students in Nayapara camp. Two years have already passed away but still two teachers have been teaching at school. So, we have been deprived of our lessons from our compulsory subjects which are our rights since 2016.
“Therefore, we have staged demonstration demanding the recruitment of sufficient teachers and school so that we can get accommodation and full lessons” said Md Rafique, a student of grade 7.
He further said, “On 30th of Jan, 2016 at 10.40 am, Program Director (PD) Abdul Muktadir Mamun of Save the Children, Project Coordinator, Moniruzzaman Khan of Village Education Resource Center and Trainer, Harun of SCI came to school and threatened us (the students) of police arrest before giving attention to our demands. Then we were trembling to hear the treats showed by PD and entered the school”.
“Save the Children is working on education and child rights protection. But now it is threatening the children which is completely violation of child rights” according to a teacher who decline to be named.
