Scores of people especially children have fallen sick and at least two have died from cold related diseases as the flood takes its toll in the Bazar para of the Singdong area of Buthidaung.
The two deceased children are seven year Abdul Malik and five year Abdul Karim.
Family members say their lives could have been saved if they were given medical treatment.
Even though scores of Rohingya children have fallen sick in the aftermath of the cyclone and the floods, the local hospital authorities say they will not give treatment to the Muslims as they are foreigners while the facilities are only for the Rakhines. Many Rakhines affected by the floods have been getting treatment in the local health centres.
All the houses in the area remain submerged in water but the government refuses to give any aid.
In Ranchong para of Sindi Parang, the situation is bit similar as two children have died without any treatment. The victims are five year Md Anis and four year Elam Bahar.
As all the houses in the area remain submerged by water, the villagers have moved to the highlands outside their village. However on Monday, the Rakhines threatened them to move back to their villages saying the land is not for the Muslims and they cannot go wherever they willed.
The villagers say it is impossible to go back unless the floodwater recedes.
