A Rohingya women and four children from Leda camp have been insulted and verbally abused by local villagers as they went to collect water from a pond.
Our correspondent says that on Saturday at around 9 am, a group of women and children went to a pond in a nearby Bengali village. As they collected water, locals started gathering and began to verbally abuse them. Some of them then snatched their kolshi (water pitcher) away.
The locals also told the refugees that if they want water from their ponds, they must pay for it.
The victims have been identified as Salima Khatun (45), d/o Nagu Ahmed, Khaleda Begum (12), d/o Ibrahim, Imam Hossain (13), d/o Ismail and Asma Bibi (13) s/o Ahmed.
The woman and children returned to the camp in empty hands.
Refugees face a humanitarian crisis after the Bangladesh government shut down relief operations at the Leda refugee camp.
