Latest fighting between Burmese government forces and Arakan Army (AA) were taken place in a location exists between Kyawktaw and Myauk Oo on January 25, between 4:00 AM and 12:00 noon. A trustful source informed Burma Times as they exchanged fires not less than 5 times.
In the battles, 97 government forces have been killed including a battalion commander of brigade (66) and 3 other officers and about 100 other government forces are injured said the source by referring a Rakhine official from Myauk Oo. He said that according to Rakhine official, merely a force from AA got a minor injury.
Information from a Rakhine source told that the AA buried well all the death body of government forces.
It is also said that AA capitally used cluster mines during the fighting.
One of the information stated that many government forces killed by themselves for suffering depression as well the battalion commander and 3 officers were also killed by their own forces.
According to the Burmese sources, several deserters from Burmese army ran into abroad due to depression.
The battles between Burmese forces and AA began since December 2015.
