Brutal torture of Kiladong men continue
Burma Times Correspondent: February 10, 2015
The police have videotaped a forced confession from a Rohingya Muslim man arrested from Du Char Yar Taan (Kiladong).
Md Ayoju was brought to Kiladong at around 12 noon on Monday. There Ayoju who looked battered and unable to stand was continuously assaulted by police.
He was then given a bamboo stick and a uniformed policeman, his face painted in red lay down before him while another videotaped. The impression was given that he had just killed the policeman.
A little later, Ayouju gave a confession pointing to the same spot where he and other Muslim villagers had ‘killed’ the policeman. Whenever the video was not playing, the policemen could be seen kicking and punching the prisoner.
Md Ayoju, along with Abdu Monaf, Md Taher and Zohur Hossain were arrested from Du Char Yar Taan on January 18, 2015.
They were then subjected to brutal torture. See more at http://burmatimes.net/four-du-char-yar-taan-men-forced-walk-nails/
A year ago, a Rakhine mob backed by security forces killed scores of men, women and children at the remote village of Du Char Yar Taan.
The government however insists that no such killing took place. They however allege that a policeman was killed on the spot.
Earlier on January 21, another prisoner Monaf was brought to the massacre site and a similar confession extracted from him. There is confusion surrounding the present condition as some say that he has died of torture while others say he is on death bed.
Incidentally scores of Muslim men have died of torture since 2012.
