The crisis facing over the forming of Arakan state government assumes would be easy if former Chief Minister Maung Maung Ohn regains the position.
Critics on social media expressed that appointing Maung Maung Ohn again as chief minister will be very favorable to most of the elected MPs from Arakan National Party (ANP) because he knows Rakhine people internally and has experiences over keeping relationship with them. They also pointed the fact that he was able to make silence to all his opponents form ANP within a month.
According to the information from Rakhine source, Dr. Aye Maung, the chairperson and U Kyaw Zaw Oo, the secretary general of ANP, both went to meet Maung Maung Oo and have discussed the issues connected with forming Arakan State government, recently after the general election.
The afore said comment was come out on the net after flashing the news of a meeting between Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Military Chief Sn. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing regarding the amendment or suspension of constitutional Act 59 (f) which barred Daw Suu to become the president. In the meeting Min Aung Haling asked Daw Suu for keeping chief minister positions of Arakan State, Kachin State, Shan State and Yangon Division under his administrations.
Many activists believe that if Daw Suu Kyi agreed with Min Aung Hlaing for the demand, there will be no problem for NLD to amend or to suspend 59 (f) and making Daw Suu a president. As well the crisis over forming Arakan State government would be easy if Maung Maung Ohn is selected as its chief minister.
But it remains still arguable for why do many critics assume as Maung Maung Ohn would be appointed as chief minister by Sn. Gen Min Aung Hlaing if Daw Suu agrees to keep Arakan under him while Maung Maung Ohn is no more an army at the moment.
The ex-chief minister Maung Maung Ohn resigned from Army to contest the election as a candidate of USDP. He contested the election from Ann constituency won the seat. So that he is not an army now but a MP of USDP, the outgoing ruling party.
“Anyway we have to watch situations and Rohingya needs to live very carefully if Maung Maung Ohn becomes the chief minister because all the works he has done were in favor of Rakhine people as to exterminate Rohingya from their own soil”, said a Rohingya politician.
