A Rohingya Muslim day labourer has gone missing in Kyauktaw.
On Monday, 15 men from the town went as daily labourers to a nearby field.
As they were returning from work after evening, they suddenly noticed that Abdul Jalil s/o Mahatabor was missing.
Supposing he had fallen behind in the dark, the party went behind to search him. However they found no trace of him.
The next day police claimed that the 14 companions had murdered him.
Locals however say that it is more likely that Rakhine nationalists were involved.
Violence has flared up in Kyauktaw as the Rakhine insurgent group Arakan Army clashes with the Tatmadaw.
