Burma Times: The Director General (DG) of Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) attended the 15th ESSAM Congress on May 28, 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey.
According to reports, the Director General of Arakan Rohingya Union took part at the 15th ESSAM Congress on behalf of the Rohingya Organizations and received opportunity to address the issues of persecuted Rohingya in Arakan State, Burma.
The Director General strongly urged the Foreign Minister of Burma (Myanmar) Daw Aung San Suu Kyi inhis speech at the Congress to prioritize the issues and sustain the efforts to tackle the humanitarian, human rights, and political problems of Rohingya Community in Arakan State.
Prof. Wakar Uddin, the Director General also do hope that the distinguished participants of the Congress would take the issues of Rohingya seriously towards finding durable solution for the most persecuted Rohingya for decades whose citizenship rights are denied by the Burmese government.
The ARU Director General also expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s constructive statement on a mutually agreeable process, and the time and space needed to find a durable solution for the Rohingya people who are still without citizenship and suffering in the country as well as around the world.
He also hopes his participation at the 15th ESSAM Congress on behalf of the Rohingya’s Organizations was fruitful as he got chance to speak for the Rohingya.
