Displaced victims of the 2012 riots in Mamra, Kyauktaw say that they have not received government compensation for building new houses.
Our local correspondent says that while some IDP families in the area have received compensation, there are 35 families that did not.
President Thein Sein had raised the hopes of the United Nations by announcing the allocation of 200 million kyats to rehabilitate IDPs. However the victims say that in most cases there is massive corruption involved in the relocation process with the police, BGP, Lawaka and government collaborators making profits.
