Terror is prevailing in the village tract of Boro Gozo Bil in Maungdaw North after many Rohingyas, including a father and a daughter were arrested by security forces on allegations of carrying out ‘terror activities’.
Four of the arrested have been identified as Md Alam, Md Kamal, Noor Ahmed and Sirajul Islam. The daughter of Alam was also arrested along with him. One source said there have been more arrests but their identities cannot be confirmed.
The arrests were made on Wednesday as security forces guided by three collaborators Nurul Amin, Ahmed and Abu swooped on the village. The arrested Rohingyas were accused of conspiring with RSO militants and planning to prevent green card registration.
Those arrested were involved in charitable work which might have drawn the ire of the collaborators and security forces, allege locals.
Sources say the arrested Rohingyas have been tortured in police custody in Maungdaw town.
