A father and son have been implicated in the murder of a Rakhine man in Akyab, according to our local correspondent.
On Tuesday, Rahmat Ali (40) and his son Md Ali (19) noticed a dead body of a Rakhine man floating in the Kaladan river near their village in Sidukul para, Pungná cwéng, Akyab. They immediately informed their Rakhine neighbours of the body.
The Rakhine men however accused the father and son of committing the murder. They were then inhumanely beaten till their body was broken and they lost consciousness.
The Rakhines along with police have also ordered all Rohingyas in the village to remain indoors.
Incidentally this small Rohingya settlement of 30 odd people has been under a state of siege since the 2012 riots and their movement and access to livelihood severely restricted.
