Police and BGP arrested and tortured a man and his son in Lamba Bil, Rathedaung.
On Saturday, security forces raided a house in search of two religious scholars from nearby Rajar Bil. The two men Abdur Shukkur and Ali Akbar, teachers of a madrasa in Rajar Bil are alleged to have aided six men who escaped from police custody.
When they could not find the men, security forces turned on the owner of the house Kala Ahmed and his son. After severe beatings, they took the men to Kiang Dong jail where they are being severely tortured.
Incidentally, security forces cracked down on Rajar Bil after men arrested from the area escaped from custody following brutal torture. As Rajar Bil residents fled their houses, security forces raided nearby villages, arresting and torturing men at random.
Many women have also been abused in the operation.
