Thai police have increased security for two key witnesses whose testimonies led to the arrest of trafficking kingpin Anwar.
The two witnesses can testify against Anwar for the murder of a Rohingya man called Kashem. One of them has witnessed the death of Kashem first hand and the other man negotiated for the release of the victim who is his nephew.
Now it is feared that Anwar who presides of a powerful criminal syndicate might have them killed. Without their testimonies, it might not be possible to charge Anwar with murder.
The multi million trafficking syndicate draws in people from mainly three countries( Thailand, Burma and Bangladesh) and includes politicians, high ranking government officials and police officers.
