A Rohingya Muslim man has been brutally beaten by Rakhine miscreants as he went fishing.
Nobi Hossain (27), s/o Abul Hossain is in a critical condition following the assault.
On Thursday, as Abul went to fish near his home in Kiang Dong, Rathedaung, a gang of Rakhines fell upon him. During the assault, the Rakhines alleged that Abul was there to burn down a Buddhist temple.
Later he was taken in an injured condition to the Rakhine village of Kiaring para. The village headman interrogated Abul who maintained that he was just a simple fisherman. The headman then asked the attackers to take him to his village in Kiang Dong.
After they left the village, the attackers once again started assaulting Abul. They shouted at him saying that he was supposed to tell the village headman he was planning an attack on the temple.
During the assault, Abul sustained serious injuries to his eyes.
As he lost consciousness, the miscreants dumped his body on the river bank and left the scene.
As evening fell and Abul did not come, other Rohingyas became worried and launched a search operation. After a long search, Abul was finally located at around 2am.
He is currently under medical treatment in a local hospital.
