Almost 200 former employees of Muslim Aid organised a demonstration in the Leda refugee camp on Friday afternoon, according to our correspondent.
The demonstrators complained that since Muslim Aid had been expelled from Leda, they have no work and are spending their days in misery. Some said that unless they have work soon, they will have no choice but to join ranks with local smugglers who run a lucrative illegal operation in the area.
The demonstrators said that any new organisation that works in the camp must employ them.
The demonstration was organised by Jamal Uddin. Speakers included Joshim Uddin, Abdul Haque, Mohammad Islam, Sanjida Islam, Nargis Begum and others.
Leda camp faces a humanitarian disaster in face of a Bangladesh government decision to expel charity organisation Muslim Aid from the camp.
