Police have arrested a fourth Rohingya community leader from Chaki para, Akyab, according to our local correspondent.
U Kyaw Khin was arrested by police at around 12.30 pm on Sunday.
Earlier, a court in the state capital handed down lengthy prison sentences to Haji Sho Min, his son Md Yusuf and Dr Ali Ahmed.
The men are accused by the government for formenting unrest by organising locals to attack military personnel. The men were earlier arrested in April 2013 and subjected to brutal torture in custody for about one and a half years.
Our sources say that the four men along with others went to rescue a boy from the military that was assaulting the minor in Chaki para. Military accused the boy of throwing a stone at them and in response they beat him heavily before locals led by this men rescued him.
The men were released earlier this year. But since then, anit Muslim groups including the 969 movement and the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP) led a campaign urging the government to sentence the Chaki para leaders.
During the arrest of U Kyaw Khin, several RNDP leaders were seen accompanying the police.
