More than 200 government employees have staged a demonstration in the border town Maungdaw of Arakan State on February 5 at about 8:00 AM by holding colourful placards.
During the demonstration, they shouted as: State peace and development …. Our Cause, Security of the border area… Our Cause, and Welcome convening a conference of all nationalities … Our Cause.
“All of them are ethnic Rakines and there is no Muslim in government service except some teachers” said a local Rohingya to Burma Times.
The purpose of staging such a demonstration may extend their support to army’s administration in the area while NLD is proclaiming the rule of law.
“Their means to security of border area is the security for themselves who offended huge of lawless crimes against the native Muslim Rohingya since Dictator Ne Win took the power in 1962” said a person who made a call to our correspondent to inform the event.
After having a long march on the road they gathered inside the Thiri Mingalar City Hall for a meeting and they kept strong security around the hall during the meeting. It is not known what they discussed or decided in the meeting.
Rohingya are attacked and killed mercilessly in Arakan since 2012, raped forcefully, and looted their properties since then.
The arable lands belonging to the Rohingya since their ancestral with proper official documents are grabbed to establish the settlements for new comer Rakine tribal people from Bangladesh and build monasteries on it.
“They fear NLD government as if it brings all the miscreants who involved into lawlessness and created nightmares for this Rohingya minority to the book” said the person.
“Even though, they fear to stop the defiance such as looting properties of Rohingyas if NLD government is appeared or worried to return back entirely which they earned by robbing them” he said.
