Sittway Corresopondent: The Rohingya residents of Guaillardel (Thakkey Pyin) village of Sittway, capital of Arakan state are at risk of life nowadays.
Sources said, “The electric posts along the road side of Guaillardel (Thakkey Pyin) in queue near the bridge were erected up for electricity many years ago. They have become old and leaning over downward which may break down on the houses of the village and pedestrians any time.
The electric posts leaning downward and about to break down are always seen by the concerned government officials but they are ignoring the possible risky situation of electricity to the properties and lives of people. If the posts break down, the electricity may cause huge damages to the lives and properties of Rohingya residents of Thakkey Pyin village of Sittway”.
“The concerned authorities are not taking any initiatives to repair the posts that may cause the risks to people although they are always seen with their own eyes and noticed by them. The reason behind concerned officials’ ignorance or negligence to the probable risky situation is that the residents of the village nearby the posts which may break down any times are the Rohingya inhabitants and the electricity may cause the damages to the Rohingyas only” said a teacher of the village.
The people of the village nearby the posts are in terrible situation and fear that the electric posts with electric stretching wires may break down and cause destructions to the properties and lives any moment, according to a woman Nur Jahan by name.
