A notorious human trafficker has been killed by Bangladesh police on Sunday night.
Aman Ullah (30) was arrested by police from Jadimura on Saturday evening. He later turned up dead.
Bangladesh police however say that Aman Ullah also known as Anu was killed in a gunfight with rivals in Teknaf. But sources have confirmed he was killed by police.
Aman Ullah had a long established relationship with local politicians and law enforcers as he used to pay them heavy bribes. He then fell into bad times and was unable to keep up the payment.
Bangladesh authorities have stepped up pressure against human traffickers in face of international pressure.
Aman Ullah was a resident of the Nayapara refugee camp. Sources say that till now, unlike their Bengali counterparts, most Rohingya criminals had not yet gone underground. But the death of Aman has now changed the situation.
