Destined for Thailand
Burma Times Correspondent: March 28, 2015
Around 40 girls have suddenly turned up in Hashurata on Thursday in the company of human traffickers led by Syed Amin.
Our correspondent says that the girls are believed be from Buthidaung and Rathidaung. They are daughters of poor families who were promised by Syed Amin that they will be married to good men without dowry.
The girls are expected to board a ‘Malaysia’ boat in the coming days. However, according to sources they will be sold to Thailand’s lucrative sex industry.
Syed Amin works under Aman Ullah who runs a huge human smuggling ring with the protection of BGP. They generally sell the women in Thailand and ransom the men till their families pay a huge ransom.
Thailand is a common destination for women trafficked for sexual exploitation.
