Burma Times Special Article: By Ibrahim Shah 20 January 2015
The chief of quasi-military regime, President Thein Sein[ Reformist President Thein Sein according to some democratic countries’ views] has been deceptively playing inexcusable and insupportable paradoxical role in order to maneuver the military power in Burma through disguised democratic transition.
Though President Thein Sein has inadequate knowledge on ‘right wing political subject’ to run the pariah state according to international democratic standard, he became president through a military controlled nationwide poll in 2010 because he was the only most trusted servant amongst other loyal army officials of Dictator Than Shwe who never says ‘No’ regarding the order of his Boss.
UN special envoys are officially allowed to visit and observe the ongoing reform process and human right situation across the Burma; on the other hand, they are insulted and threatened by angry mob or so called paid protestors including depraved ethnocentric monks. If it is expressed truly based on past incidents happened against UN envoy, they are indeed state-sponsored terrorists who have been overtly engaging in social, religious and humanitarian fields so that they can be able to conceal the real face of terrorism after demonstrating that they are advocating for the protection of Buddhism and national sovereignty.
To defend the state, armed forces of different terms such as police force, paramilitary, Navy, military, etc were formed by state government.
Indeed it is really deplorable to come across how the illogical and illegal usage of radical Rakhine and impious ignorant monks regarding the national sovereignty are being widely utilized without any prosecution if the government led by President Thein Sein is not got involved.
Here it is questioned to Burmese President Thein Sein that why those mischievous armed forces, radical Rakhine, Buddhist laymen and monks who perpetrated a wide variety of crimes against humanity in particular proponent monk of Islamophobia Wirathu were not brought under court until today if the state government is not backed.
Is there any sacred verse of Lord Buddha where it was permitted to drink alcohol, to insult religions apart from Buddhism, to commit adultery and rape, to destroy non-Buddhists, etc?
Otherwise, why the government is willingly silent to these kinds of bizarre activities which are carried out against well-versed and reputable UN officials though bad reputation of Burma is circulated across the world such as Ethnocentric Buddhism in Burma threatens other religious faiths in particular Islam and Christianity. The main reason for inaction of armed forces who were deployed to control these kinds of anti- UN envoy demonstrations led by paid radicals belong to Rakhine community and ethnocentric hard liner monks is ‘common conspiracy’ backed by government itself in order to stop independent observance of UN delegations over the ongoing human rights violations in ethnic minority areas in particular Rakhine state where Rohingya Muslims densely live.
Let’s have a glance at how premeditated assault and protest carried out against UN delegation by pay-agents
An angry mob of around 200 people attacked the car of former UN special human rights rapporteur on 19 August in the town of Meiktilla, central Burma, where anti-Muslim violence in last March left at least 44 dead. In a statement the UN envoy said his vehicle “was descended upon by a crowd of around 200 people who proceeded to punch and kick the windows and doors of the car while shouting abuse”. The incident forced him to abandon plans to visit a local camp, where some 1,600 displaced Muslims are sheltering, he added. He reiteratively reported that security forces absolutely failed to stop the March unrest, saying “police allegedly stood by as angry mobs beat, stabbed and burned” their victims to death.
“The state has to protect me as a responsibility… This did not happen. The state failed to protect me,” Tomas Ojea Quintana, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights, told reporters at the end of his 10 day visit to the country.
At a conference in April, he, Mr. Quintana, claimed that there were “elements of genocide in Rakhine [Arakan State] with respect to Rohingya.”
The ex-UN envoy Mr. Quintana submitted a report on the condition of human rights in Myanmar to the United Nation Human Right Council in March, 2013. “The report is one sided as he has only written about violation of human rights of the Bengalis and depicted the ethnic people of Rakhine as terrorists”, said DawNyo Aye, the leader of Rakhine Women Network, according to Irrawaddy. The protesters held placards which referred to Mr. Quintana as the ‘Agitator for Bengalis’, ‘The one-sided broker for Bengalis’, ‘Mis-user of Human Right’, etc.
Where were the Burmese officials including Arakan state chief minister Mg Mg Ohn, who claim themselves that they are working to bring the communities to stay together while terrorist Rakhine people chanted by waving placards of wicked words as mentioned above? Of course, Burmese rulers have no answer for this question which based on truth because the government itself is the main culprit.
Thousands of ultra-nationalist Rakhine people and ethnocentric hardliner Buddhist monks staged protest in Sittwe, the capital of western Myanmar Rakhine State, against the usage of the term Rohingya by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon when he was attending the ASEAN summit and East Asia summit in Naypyitaw, on 23 November 2014. Government officials of Burma mentioned that they are not happy with the use of the word Rohingya by the UN and other countries as well.
What a hateful task was carried out by Arakan State Chief Minister General Mg Mg Ohn after sending a refusal letter against the ethnical term Rohingya to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon while he[Ban Ki-moon] was in Naypyitaw in last November in order to implement the genocidal policy‘Rakhine Action plan’! Indeed, it is shameful and unwise, and it evidently emerged that Burmese quasi-military regime did not abandon the inhumane habit of their former bosses military dictators.
During Ms. Lee’s 1st mission, the UN envoy on human rights in Burma, she acknowledged the suffering endured by both Rakhine Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims, but claimed that “the health situation in the Muslim IDP camps as of particular concern”, especially following the mass departure of international NGOs in March, 2014.“The situation is deplorable. Many have remained in the camps for two years and I do not believe that there is adequate access to basic services,” she said.
She acknowledged the sensitivities surrounding ethnic identity and terminology, but claimed that the state cannot dictate how ethnic groups choose to self-identify, and that doing so is a violation of international human rights law.
She added that Muslims continued to face systematic discrimination, including restrictions on freedom of movement, restricted access to land, food, water, education and health care, and restrictions on marriages and birth registration. I had received allegations of violations against the Muslim population in Rakhine, including arbitrary arrests, torture, and death in detention, the denial of fair trials, rape and sexual violence, she further said.
Ms. Yanghee Lee encounters repeated similar accusations faced by ex-UN envoy Quintana from Rakhine community, radical monks and imperialistic government officials. During her first trip in Burma, she was repeatedly told to avoid using the term Rohingya.
In last June, another senior UN official, Kyung-Wha Kang, said that in the camps in Rakhine state she had witnessed a level of human suffering that she had never seen before.
Here it is questioned to so called reformist Burmese President Thein Sein, and his other fellows aggressor Rakhine people and impious radical monks, to say all these three UN officials— Mr. Quintana, Ms. Lee and Kyung-Wha Kang are paid by Rohingya to term them as Rohingya.
Hundreds of protestors including ignorant monks staged protests against Ms. Lee who came to Burma for conclusion of her second mission from 7-16 January.
Khine Pyi Soe, vice-president of Arakan National Party, said that the Rakhine community opposes Lee’s report as well as her use of the term Rohingya.
“The UN’s resolution is like giving pressure to Myanmar and it is interfering with the sovereignty of our country, so we vehemently oppose it,” Khine Pyi Soe who is at the protest told ucanews.com on Thursday.
Here it appeared that aggressor Rakhine community and impious ignorant monks have neither shame nor law similar to pig to indulge after perpetrating the country’s prescribed law. The boar [male pig] of sow [female pig] has a wicked habit that they indulge to watch the engagement in sexual intercourse of their male friends with their sow.
“Co-existence only comes after trust-building and the UN resolution to accept term the Rohingyais detrimental to our citizenship verification programme[ under Pilot Project which will be implemented since this January through Rakhine Action Plan in which it is officially declared either accept Bengali or be detained] ”, Pe Than, lower house MP from Myebon Township, said to Ms. Lee on Friday, 9th January.
The Burmese government strongly denies the existence of the ethnic group Rohingya, insisting that they are “Bengalis” who migrated into Burma from neighbouring Bangladesh later 1850s. The government of Myanmar has indicated as it would consider citizenship for members of the community who identify themselves as Bengali.
Here in this article, I would like to ask the ruling Burmese government led by ignorant President Thein Sein of USDP party and his political tool [extreme Rakhine nationalist led by Rakhine National Party and impious monks led by Ma Ba Tha] to officially prove which of the ethnic groups reached first in Arakan/western Burma amongst Rooinga/Rohingya, Mogh/Rakhine and Mranma/Bama/Myanmar.
Some external and domestic official documents of Rohingya existence in Arakan/Rakhine state
The first Arakanese Kings were Indo-Aryans from Ganges Valley. (Ancient Arakanese Chronicles). Accordingly, it is wanted to know which ethnicity belongs to Indo-Aryan family amongst the current ethnic group Rakhine and Myanmarese who persistently denies the existence of Rohingya.
- W. Wilson said that before 10th century A.D only Indians and Indian culture including the literature were foundin Arakan. Burmese and Burmese cultures are found only after 10thcentury.(H. W. Wilson; the history of Indian people, PP. 189 – 204)
An Account of the Burman Empire, Compiled from the works of Colonel Symes, Major Caning, Captain Cox, Dr Leyden, Dr Buchanan by Henry G. Bell, ESQ in 1852 stated in page (66) that the Mahommedans who have been long settled in the country, call themselves Rooinga or Native of Arracan.
In pages 89 and 90, vol:(9) of Myanmar Encyclopedia published in 1964 described about Mayyu frontier Area as it was declared by Government on 30th May, 1961 and it had population of (4) Lakhs to nearly(5) Lakhs , where 75% were Rohingyas.
Rohingya community was the officially recognized as ethnic group in Burma since 1950s until 1982.
Although there are several concrete documents of the existence of Rohingya in western Burma, the insistence of imperialistic Burmese officials, radical Rakhine and ignorant monks to UN delegations and other international organizations to strictly avoid using the term Rohingya is evidently emerged that Rohingya face Genocide.
Apparently, UN should beware in all forms to monitor Burma whether the government is indeed working to continue the ongoing democratic reforms or to interrupt the upcoming nationwide poll 2015 because the ruling USDP party is relentlessly making efforts to win by landslide in order to occupy 25% of Burmese parliamentarian seats for military MPs according to internal sources.
In conclusion, it is wanted to know that when—UN will strongly warn Burma to refrain from premeditated insulting by state-sponsored radical Rakhine and ignorant monks over reputable UN delegations, journalists and other international organizations, and US will take necessary steps to stop all kinds of violence which lead to genocide of minorities in particular Rohingya people in Burma because the main culprit is coward regime led by President Thein Sein.
