The government has selected an infamous tabbe Imam Hossain as the Aishwaramu of Porang Chong in Buthidaung, according to our local correspondent.
The appointment has distressed local villagers, as the new Aishwaramu is unpopular for his oppressive deeds.
Sources say that some state government officials made the appointment in exchange for 700,000 kyats.
Meanwhile locals have prepared an anonymous petition urging the government to reverse the decision.
