A two and a half child died in the Leda refugee camp on Saturday.
Razia Bibi was suffering from pneumonia. Her father Md Rafique could not get medical treatment for the infant child as all medical facilities remained suspended on orders of the Bangladesh government.
The advent of the monsoon season has eased the water crisis as refugees now depend on the rain for drinking water and for household chores. However the rainy season has also brought diseases such as pneumonia and many in the camp especially the children are suffering without access to medical facilities.
Many of the houses have not been repaired and the roof does not hold up against the heavy rain.
Since late February, the Bangladesh government halted operations by charity organisations creating a humanitarian disaster in the refugee camp.
