Heavy fighting rages in Kyauktaw between the Rakhine insurgent group Arakan army and the Tatmadaw.
The Arakan Army known for operating in the restive Kachin state alongside local insurgents recently embarked on military operations in the area for the first time in many years.
The Burmese army in response cracked down on several Rakhine villages. Houses of civilians were burned down in some villages of the area.
The army has reportedly arrested some Rakhine civilians as well. Many insurgents are believed to be hiding among civilians.
Aid groups have been prevented access to conflict prone areas.
