Rohingyas who flocked to the Paktuli madrasa in Kyauktaw are passing their days in anxiety after receiving continuous threats from Rakhines.
For almost a week, Rohingyas escaping floods have arrived in Paktuli. Many arrived after the army ejected them from a school in the area saying it was needed to shelter Rakhine people from the cyclone.
At present, some of the areas in Kyauktaw are still under water making it impossible to go back. So Rohingyas have crammed together in this religious institution in dismal living conditions where the stench of waste and the limited space for sleeping makes life unbearable.
As if this was not enough, Rakhine miscreants surround the place at night and call out insults to the Rohingyas and demean the religion of Islam.
The place lies in the midst of Rakhine territory and the people live in imminent fear of a massacre.
