A man was arrested first by the BGP and then the police after his house burned down in Caab Bazar, Maungdaw North.
The house of Mujibur Rahman burned down due to accidental reasons on Wednesday. The BGP ordered him to come to their base in Náing Caung where they accused him of setting fire to his own house to discredit the Buddhist nationalists.
He was then severely tortured till he agreed to pay 300,000 kyats.
He was released on Thursday but when he came back to Caab Bazar, the police arrested him and asked him to pay them.
Mujibur had already given everything to the BGP and was unable to pay the bribe. He is still in custody.
