A man has been arrested and assaulted for coming to the rescue of his neighbour in Propang, Buthidaung.
On December 3, two tabbes entered the house of Momtaz Begum at around 10pm. As she saw the two men, Momtaz raised a hue and a cry. The shout for help was picked up by her neighbour Abdullah who rushed to the scene thus preventing the two assailants from attacking the women.
The two government men became furious at the presence of Abdullah and enquired what he was doing outside at such a late hour. He was then confined and handed over to the Aishwaramu. He was then handed over to BGP who tortured him in custody on allegations of committing criminal acts.
He was later released on the payment of 150,000 kyats.
