An innocent man trying to be honest faces continuous torture in BGP custody for almost ten days.
On July 24, Enayet Ullah, a transport driver found 250,000 kyats lying on the road near Gudong in Maungdaw South. As an honest and upright man, Enayet informed everyone about the money and said anyone with evidence of ownership will get back their lost money.
When a local tabbe and a Hlun Htein informer named Baku heard about the money, he went to Enayet and claimed it belonged to him. He could not however give sufficient proof of ownership and Enayet refused to hand over the money.
Baku became furious and conspired with the Hlun Htein. An officer ordered Enayet to come to camp.
As Enayet reached camp, the officer accused him of robbing the money and had him arrested. Since then he faces torture on a continuous basis.
