A Rohingya Muslim man has been brutally assaulted by Rakhine miscreants with the support of a local tabbe.
On Thursday, Hossain Ahmed went to a river near his village in Kullung, Maungdaw South. Here he managed to catch a big fish. But a Rakhine man who saw the catch wanted the fish and offered to pay only a negligible amount.
Hossain refused and this made the Rakhine angry. He took some of his fellow villagers and complained to the Aishwaramu of the village tract that although he paid Hossain money, he was refusing to hand over the fish.
The Aishwaramu sent some of his men to intercept Hossain. The fisherman was then tied up and the Aishwaramu asked the Rakhine men to beat him as much as they wanted.
The Rakhines then proceeded to beat Hossain till he lost consciousness and fell into a coma.
He lasted in the coma for around 10 hours.
The local village doctor refused to treat him saying he did not want a dead man in his hands.
Hossain however managed to survive but is still in a critical condition.
